Why so cheap?  ...and other frequently asked questions.

Why so cheap?

We build what is known as a common sense website. Not a lot of glitz and glitter but effective just the same.

It seems that most business owners I have spoken too over the years prefer straight out 'roll up your sleeves and get to work' sites over the more complicated ones. They want sites that are quick to load for folks that have dialup connections. It seems that they want the consumer to focus on the product and/or service rather than a bunch of junk hopping and jumping around all over the screen. It makes perfect sense to me.

Plus, my overhead is low as I have a very small staff of just three people. Me, myself and I.

I do it all. Yep, everything from the initial design to the published product. That includes all the graphics, the Javascript, even uploading the files and submitting your site to the search engines.

You see, I don't do this for a living. It's more of a hobby which makes me a little money and basically supports my computer habit.

I travel a lot and therefore I spend a lot of time in hotel rooms. I can't stand television so I took up my computer and the internet as a way to pass time in my room.

And since someone else pays for my hotel rooms then I really don't have any overhead except my computer and a Big Mac® Combo every now and again.

The only thing I ask is that my clients please have a little patience with me on changes and updates when I've had a long day and really need to sleep. Of if I have a long trip where most of my time is taken up driving for a few days at a time.

I usually manage to get things done in a pretty timely manner though.

Do you use Templates?

This day in time many web designers/developers are using website templates for site design.

This basically involves them changing a little text and a few colors and you have your finished product. This method is cookie-cutter in nature and your site comes out almost looking like everyone else's, But it does allow the developer to do many sites in a short time which helps them to keep their prices low.

We don't use templates. Never have. Never will. Your site will be designed with you and your business in mind. It will be fashioned from scratch right down to the colors and graphics. We keep our prices low by not allowing this to be our total income.

Now keep in mind that this approach involves a bit of extra time to come up with the right design, we guarantee it will be worth the wait. After all, if you are going to shell out your hard earned dollars for a website it might as well be right the first time. Else you might have to pay for a second job. And who needs that?

So whether you have a few hundred dollars to spend on your site or several thousand, you can bet it will be YOUR website and it will be right the first time.

Do you Flash?

No. I really tried to learn the Macromedia Flash® program because I thought it was pretty cool but I couldn't seem to stay awake (boring) long enough to make any progress.

I have found out that most 'common sense' websites don't use Flash anyway. It seems to take away from the message the companies are trying to project.

Some of the entertainer websites still use flash but then they are pretty flashy folks anyway.

How can I trust you? There is no contact number given.

I am in the professional entertainment business and you wouldn't believe some of the knucklehead phone calls I get.

I have found it better to just not publish my phone number on the website. However, if you want to speak to me in person just drop me an email and I will gladly provide you with my cell number or send your number and I will call you. I don't hide my number so it will show up on your caller ID and you will have it anyway.

Or you could simply ask any one of my clients and they will give you the number. I ain't hiding, I'm just not yet completely loco. But I'm close...

Where did the name "Highway 41 Studios" come from?

When I was a kid growing up in Kennesaw, Georgia, US-41 ran just to the west of downtown.

It was the only way to get to Marietta or Cartersville or anywhere else for that matter. There was no I-75 or other major corridors to take. Only Highway 41 -- or the '4-lane' as we called it.

Today when I leave my home in West L.A. (that's West Lower Acworth), what is the first major road I see? Why, it's the 4-lane of course.

Therefore it seemed like the perfect name for an Internet company that can take you just about anywhere.

Plus all the other good URL's were already taken.
